I just found out about this robot arm as I was doing some research -after- I had posted my archive! Argh!
It's been a few years since its release, but the Discovery Spark looks like a re-release of the original Tomy/Radio Shack Armatron robot arm:
Other than a green color scheme and a slightly different looking base and shoulder, it certainly looks identical!
They are still available new:

Maybe a new round of interface hacking can begin again!
